Love Serve Meditate Realize

Saturday, Jan 12, 2013 Marydale’s Thought for the Day – 1/12/13

What a world we live in. Folks, young and old, have packed schedules and the pressure that goes along with it. Often, on autopilot, we rush around trying to get it all done and do not enjoy the journey and preciousness of our lives. Slowing down is the answer. Prioritize, sort through and eliminate unnecessary obligations, demands, and time wasting activities that drain your energy. Stay awake and present in everything that you are doing and behave with care. You know as well as I do that rushing around, multi-tasking, cramming in one more thing, ends up depleting you and wasting precious time because of mistakes, accidents, or poor performance! If you truly believe that you are an Infinite Being, part of the great I Am, then what’s the rush? There is time for everything and everything in right timing. This calm behavior will become the very roots of your freedom and joy.

Whenever you have an opportunity to care for or serve someone – do it. Consider your kindnesses as an invisible insurance policy for the ones you love. A guarantee that someone, somewhere, will always – always – step up to care for and serve your loved ones in your absence. Instantly created is a circle of loving kindness woven together by the generosity of Spirit. Everyone wins.

Thursday, Jan 10, 2013 Marydale’s Thought for the Day – 1/10/13

Time and time again we find ourselves in situations where someone behaves in exactly the negative way we expect them to and then we act as though it is a surprise. How ridiculous of us. Stop the madness and recognize the truth as it presents itself. Then remember the truth for all future experiences. This allows you to create new behavioral responses that will allow you to stay calm, centered and in integrity no matter what. What a great relief!

Wednesday, Jan 09, 2013 Marydale’s Thought for the Day – 1/09/13

As relentless as life is, we must take time to pause, to be still, to go within. For it is here that we gain our sense of balance, harmony and Grace. You may be impressed by innate knowing that nudges you ever so gently along your way, ever reminding you that you are never alone, for the Creator of all things is your constant companion. Slow down…you might miss something precious right in front of you, in this very moment.

Monday, Jan 07, 2013 It’s a good thing.

One of our yoga students posted a wonderful tip on her Facebook page at the end of December. It suggested that you get an empty jar and leave it where you will see it on a regular basis. Then, every time something good happens in your life, write it on a piece of paper and put it in the jar. On December 31, 2013, empty the jar and read what’s on all of the papers. You’ll end the year on a positive note (literally!) by seeing all of the great things that happened to you over the past year.

We at Param Yoga have taken this suggestion to heart, both at the studio and in our homes, by setting out a jar and keeping small pieces of paper and a pencil handy to jot down our “good things” as they happen.  A good thing could be as small as finding a lucky penny or as large as finding your soulmate.

The greatest part about this activity is that, in looking for positive things to happen in your life, you are more likely to find them. As believers in the idea that your thoughts and expectations determine your life’s experiences, we know how important it is to focus only on those things that you want to create in your life. The Good Things Jar is one of those tools that can help you steer your thoughts in a positive direction on a daily basis.

When a good thing happens in your life or at the studio, particularly if it relates to your yoga practice, you are encouraged to write it down and drop it in our Good Things Jar when you come to the studio for class. At our annual holiday potluck in December, we will empty the jar and read your good things out loud.

We wish all of you a year filled with good things. Happy 2013!

Monday, Jan 07, 2013 Marydale’s Thought for the Day – 1/07/13

There are times in our lives when our hearts ache so deeply that despair or great sadness can become the norm. There are a million reasons why this experience can be provoked, and the longer it goes on, the more challenging it becomes to shake ourselves free.

Freedom always comes back to self-healing, and self-healing begins by giving ourselves compassion. Easier said than done for the simple reason that it is not unusual for us to put ourselves last, and, frankly, by the time we get around to giving ourselves the care we need, we are pretty much spent.

Please initiate yogic mind…listen to the still, small voice within you that is always on top of what is going on, monitoring your needs, and know that you are worthy of compassion, love, respect, honor and care…always. Don’t wait until it is too late. Be good to yourself today, now. Turn compassion inward and know that, as a healthy being, you are able to not only care for yourself, but others as well.

You are deeply loved exactly as you are in this moment. Promise.

Saturday, Jan 05, 2013 Marydale’s Thought for the Day – 1/05/13

There are those who walk among us that act in the personification of angelic beings day in and day out. You know who they are. They’re the ones who believe in the good, no matter what, who give the benefit of the doubt, no matter what, who continue to trust even when they have been burned, who give until the only thing left to give is their unending support. They do these things selflessly with no expectation of payback. They are the ones who do no harm to any living thing, ever. They are the ones who choose to nurture, to afford patience, who listen, who are gentle and calm. They are the ones that know being wealthy is about loving and being loved. They are the ones who do not care what others think of the ‘foolish’ acts of unending kindness to those whom they may judge unworthy. Yes, there are angels alive and well walking among us, caring about us, for us, and loving us. Pay attention when you look in the mirror…you may have wings. I love you.
