Swami Atmavidyananda Giri

A senior monk in the lineage of Paramahamsa Hariharananda and Paramahamsa Prajnanananda and current Vice President of Kriya Yoga Institute, Swami Atmavidyananda Giri was initiated into Kriya Yoga in 1994 and has traveled the world since 2006 to guide seekers on the path of Kriya Yoga.

He has participated in and presided over several interfaith conferences and delivered a number of lectures, television and radio talks on spiritual topics in the USA, Canada, and South America. Able to speak six languages, he provides loving instruction in a very logical and clear manner. 

He was ordained as a monk in the Giri monastic order in February 2009 and given the name Swami Atmavidyananda, which means “bliss of Self-knowledge.” While primarily dedicated to the cause of Kriya Yoga, he also has a degree in mechanical engineering and is an expert in astrology, eastern and western scriptures, other ancient yogic practices, and Vedic ritual ceremonies. Shanna Hughes

Shanna Hughes is a trained yoga therapist with many years of experience in classic yoga training with a special emphasis on therapeutic and clinical applications of yoga and special-needs yoga integration.

For the first fifteen years of her life, Shanna lived in Kashmir, India, where her parents studied yoga and meditation under the guidance of a world acclaimed philosopher and Kashmir Shaivite Saint, Swami Lakshmanjwam joo. By joining these classes from childhood through her young adult years, Shanna learned at an early age the healing power of meditation and yoga.

After returning to America, Shanna continued her studies of yoga, concentrating on yoga therapy. She completed a three-year certification as a Yoga Therapist from Loyola Marymount University. Through this innovative course, she learned how to integrate the practices of yoga with the various approaches to healing found in modern medicine, including techniques in physical therapy and stress reduction through bio-feedback. Katyanna Anita Zoroghlian

Katyanna is a mystical singer/songwriter whose mission is to help us Remember the Divine Love that we are, Reconnect to this essence, and Rejoice together in the One Voice and One Heart that we experience as we sing together in devotion. She enjoys sharing songs of love and remembrance, including kirtan, channeling songs in the moment as spirit moves her, and writing children’s songs. Katyanna has two albums of sound journey music with her project Magic Beyond Words. These are called Namaste and Into the Wind, with music that lifts and caresses your soul. You may find these albums on CD Baby, iTunes, and Spotify. Katyanna has sung at yoga music events, including Bhakti and Shakti Fest, and with the Yuval Ron Ensemble in the U.S. and India. She has also sung on Yuval Ron’s album for the doshas with Jai Uttal.

Woodlands Indian Cuisine

For the past six years, lunch at Yoga Day has been provided by Woodlands Indian Cuisine, an all-vegetarian Southern Indian restaurant in Chatsworth. They serve a wide variety of dishes, from mild to spicy, including a delicious dessert and the best chai tea around. The friendly staff are always happy to meet our yogis and offer up generous helpings of their fine regional fare.
